The Davis Cup began in 1900 as a competition between USA and Great Britain. It’s now the world’s largest annual international team competition in sports, with 125 nations competing in 2010.

Haiti has been parting in the Davis Cup since 1988. This year, Haiti classified in Group 2 of the Americas division alongside the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, the Dutch Antilles, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela and Puerto Rico.

Haiti will honorably defend its place within Group 2 against Puerto Rico in Mayaguez between July 8th and July 10th. A victory against Puerto Rico would give Haiti the chance to win the Davis Cup in 2012.
