Miami: 25 June 2012 – Final day of competition

ACH (Alliance Culinaire Haitiene) & Team Haiti would like to thank GB Group for there generous participation in helping us put Haiti in the Culinary Map.

TEAM HAITI paraded into the Taste of the Caribbean Culinary Competition Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Miami, to a 3-minute standing ovation yesterday evening.

The team competed for the first time in this prestigious event that brings Caribbean islands together for a culinary Olympics to challenge individual and team skills in the kitchen and bar.

Teams to beat were Trinidad & Tobago, 7 times winners, Puerto Rico, regular runners-up and Jamaica, regular favorites.

This was the year Djon Djon came to Taste of the Caribbean!

Team Haiti brought flair, zest, great new flavors and a willingness to try anything!

Consul General, François Guilliame, was present at the awards banquet and could not have been more thrilled & delighted with the amazing performance of Haiti’s culinary elite.

We have brought the wonder of Haitian cuisine to the whole region and won! Judges and other competitors loved our food! Our booth for the Taste of the Islands competition was the most authentic, and the lines of general public waiting to taste Haitian Griot, Gumbo, Beignet & Barbancourt Chou Chou cocktails never stopped!

Team Haiti is deeply indebted to the CHTA Education Foundation, Johnson & Wales University North Miami, The Antiguan Culinary Circle, GB Group, Barbancourt Rhum, The Ministry of Finance, The Ministry of Tourisme & the Consulate in Miami for their sponsorship and support.

Team Haiti was honored by the Consulate and Diaspora in Little Haiti Monday evening and will receive Proclamation & Scrolls from the City of North Miami tomorrow, evening.
