GB Group is a proud sponsor of the 38th annual Caribbean Central American Action (CCAA) Conference being held in Miami November 19th through 21st. CCAA has been promoting private sector-led economic development in the Caribbean Basin since 1980.

The organization serves its goal of facilitating trade and investment by fostering constructive dialogue between the private and public sectors to improve the policy and regulatory environments for business at the local, regional, and international levels.

In this year’s conference, GB Group is proud to be unveiling details of Lafito Global: Haiti’s first self-contained real estate development. We are also pleased to announce Pierre Liautaud, Board Member of Port Lafito, as a panel participant on “The modern port:  what it takes to be competitive.”

The development is designed to foster a new vibrant economic social center, establish attractive regional logistics and an industrial hub. Additionally, Lafito Global will drive the creation of more than 25,000 new jobs in Haiti by 2020.

Port Lafito S.A., Haiti’s first Panamax Port, is the centerpiece of the Lafito Global economic zone. It is a multi-purpose terminal in the Lafiteau area – located 20 kilometers north of Port-au-Prince. It is the deepest port in Haiti with 12.5 meters of safe draft and 450 meters of berth (to be 900 by June 2016). The Port will handle containerized and loose-bulk cargo while featuring state of the art equipment and software. The project is scheduled to start operations in January 2015 under SSA Marine management. The Port also includes a Dry Terminal in Port-au-Prince at the heart of the city’s industrial center.

Lafito Industrial Free Zone is being developed within Lafito Gobal to attract international manufacturing companies and revitalize foreign investment in Haiti.
