GB Energy proud sponsor of the Punta Cana Carnival in Dominican Republic

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic March 8th, 2014.- Over 30,000 people enjoyed the 7th annual Punta Cana Carnival in all its splendor last Saturday where renowned Dominican pianist and composer, Michael Camilo, was celebrated as the carnival’s central character: “King Momo.”

Camilo, who is also a distinguished orchestra conductor and proud recipient of a Grammy, Latin Grammy and Emmy awards; was joined by Punta Cana Group president Mr. Frank Rainieri.

GB Energy – Texaco was proud to be part of such an emblematic celebration in this coastal Dominican town organized each year by the Punta Cana Group with proceeds going towards the Punta Cana Foundation.

“Our carnival’s primary goal is to highlight the culture and joy that characterizes the Dominican people, to make a positive contribution to the community and share our folklore with foreigners who visit us each year,” said Rainieri speaking to hundreds of spectators gathered at 1ro de Noviembre Boulevard.

This year, the festive occasion included colorful and elaborate international delegations from Haiti and Israel of which GB Energy was particularly proud!

Also participating where national floats and representatives from different regions across the Dominican Republic including: the Barahona Pintaos, the Cabral Cachuas and the Baní Robalagallinas (which is spanish for “chicken thieves”).

The Coral Muses represented Punta Cana dedicating their inspired display to all women of the world in commemoration of International Women’s Day alluding particularly to butterflies in memory of the martyred Mirabal sisters.

The lively closing party was held in the Punta Cana Village featuring urban artists Vakeró and Mozart La Para where attendees danced the night away.
