GB Energy-Texaco Held a Reforestation Day in Villa Altagracia

GB Energy Texaco JAMAICAGB Energy hosted a Green Day in collaboration with the Department of Environment, through its agency Quisqueya Verde

San Cristobal.- Employees and executives of GB Energy-Texaco recently hosted a successful Reforestation Day in the community of El Gancho, in Villa Altagracia, in collaboration with the Department of Environment, through its agency “Quisqueya Verde”.

Forty-five employees took part in the event in which volunteers planted about two thousand pine trees.

NewsImages_reforestationThis was the second reforestation event hosted by the company in the region, designed to help this municipality located in the Province of San Cristobal. This reforestation project will result in better performance of the river basin and will provide protection against erosion of the soil.

“GB Energy-Texaco has a well-defined and consistent focus on health management, safety and protection of the environment. Therefore, it is very important for us to develop initiatives that contribute to the protection of the country’s natural resources”, said Julian Rojas, Regional Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Manager.

Mr. Rojas added that they are very pleased with the work accomplished during this event, and they’re certain that they will continue to contribute to the recovery of plant life in this and other areas in the years to come.

Through this event, GB Energy-Texaco reaffirms its commitment to the environment, including its broad social responsibility platform which also provides social contribution initiatives and community development.
